Sir Fredrick Crawford K.C.M.G, O.B.E arrived at Entebbe Airport on 26th February 1957 and was later sworn-in as Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Protectorate.
He was met by Officials from of Colonial Administration; Mr. C.H. Bird, Minister of Commerce and Works, C.H. Haetwell, Chief Secretary, and Mr. R.L.E. Dreshfield, Attorney-General. Also present were Mr. A.K. Kironde, Assistant Minister of Social Services, and Mrs. Kironde.
In the same year, he made his first Visit to Bulange on 20th May 1957.
Governor Crawford later embarked on a tour of the Protectorate which took him to Ankole in July 1959 and Kigezi in August 1959. He also opened a plywood factory at Jinja in August 1959 and thereafter visited Teso from 23rd - 27th September 1959, where he laid a foundation stone for the Kaberamaido N.A.C. Junior Secondary School.
