Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother officially opens the New Library Building

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother is received by The Chancellor, Principal Sir Bernard de Bunsen and Colonial Administration Staff at Makerere University, Kampala Uganda on 20th February 1959

On the sunny Friday Afternoon of 20th February 1959, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother officially opened the New Library Building at Makerere College.

The Queen Mother led a procession of the College Administration and Academia as Students and Staff lined the patways to welcome Her Majesty. After cutting the tape, the Queen Mother proceeded to sign the visitor's book and then toured the Library accompanied by the Chancellor, Principal Sir Bernard de Bunsen, and members of the Royal family and Colonial Administration.

The queen later presided over a graduation ceremony and received a framed portrait of Makerere College.
