The Faculty of Computing and Informatics Technology (CIT) Block B building was officially commissioned by Hon. Dr. Ham-Mukasa Mulira the ICT Minister on behalf of His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda on 28th January 2009. The building was constructed from internally generated funds.
On 28th April 2006, President Kaguta Museveni represented by Hon. Daudi Migereko, Minister of Energy and Mineral Development officially laid the foundation stone for the building. Construction work on the 12,000 square metres State-of-the-Art complex was completed in December 2008.
The building, the first of its kind that has been constructed at a University Campus in Africa, was demonstration of the development capacity of internally generated funds and an achievement for Makerere University and Uganda in general.

6 computer laboratories each of 800 square metres (1000 seat capacity)
6 lecture theatres each of 400 square metres (600seat capacity)
6 small laboratories of total area 1200 square metres
6 small lecture theatres of total area 1200 square metres
One canteen of total area 300square metres
300 square metres of office space
1800 square metres of circulation space
